Marc Jacobs Beauty are known for their luxury and flawless beauty products. When I was sent their new Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara I was so excited. Firstly, I don’t have any Marc Jacobs products currently as I don’t often go into department stores where they stock their line of makeup. However, I follow a lot of YouTubers who rave about their foundations and bronzers.

The packaging is super sleek and glossy, giving the hint to some who hasn’t used any Marc Jacobs Beauty products before a bit of a wow (I am currently on a make-up shopping ban in a bid to save money for a mortgage – dull!). The heaviness of the mascara itself was astonishing, you can tell it’s made from a good solid material and the mascara tube is slightly thicker than a drugstore one, again hinting at being a luxury product despite its affordable price tag of £22.

The brush is an hourglass shape, meaning the lashes in the middle can be reached by the wand as effectively as those in the outer and inner corners. I must admit, I am picky when it comes to mascara wands – I always used to use Dior Diorshow which has a super big wand. This is very similar; it catches those tiny lashes and loads them up with formula giving you volume. Obviously, you can apply more layers for more volume but the recommendation is three.

The formula is super black! For me there is no other way a mascara should be, the blackest of blacks to create that effortless dramatic lash is right up my street. It really is as dark as night but not in a harsh way. The formula is slightly on the moist side meaning you can apply a couple of coats and really work the wand through your lashes before it completely dried.

I wore this mascara from 6.30am to 8pm at night including a stupidly stressfull day at work followed by an intense and sweaty gym session and it lasted! For me, going to the gym is the ultimate test for any makeup product like eyebrows – it must still look like how it was before you workout.

However, because my lashes at the bottom are slightly long I did see some black patches transfer under my eyes – this is something I get with a lot of mascaras (even after working out).  Overall, this mascara is really great, the formula and the wand definitely tick the boxes for me – including its high-end feel and look it is affordable to wear everyday.
