It’s 2017 and everyone still loves a nude matte lipstick, and it’s no surprise because if you’re like me they are the perfect colour that goes with everything – a smokey eye, a bright eye or even just a simple liner. There are thousands of colours of different shades of nudes on the market, browns, mauves and taupes (the list goes on) and each nude matte lipstick I seem to buy gets better and better in terms of durability and opacity. A test that I like to put mine through is eating (of course!) seeing if it the lipstick stays on my lips, doesn’t transfer onto my chin or onto my teeth (worst nightmare) and that if I reapply it won’t go bumpy or look like I have chapped lips. I would love to share my current collection and favourites of nude matte lipsticks, so here they are!

LASplash Lip Couture Waterproof Matte Liquid Lipstick in OG Ghoulish – this lipstick goes on the lips like velvet with a matte finish that never transfers. This nude is the perfect shade for anyone, the OG in the name means original (I think) as the other LASplash lipsticks in the shade Ghoulish has more red tones.

NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Stockholm – this lightweight matte lip cream applies great onto the lips. However, I tend to apply a few layers as it goes on fairly sheer but this might be because the colour Stockholm comes out quite transparent/fair on my skin.

Stila Cosmetics Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Patina – part of my favourite trio! This red-nude glides effortlessly across the lips and is definitely long-wearing hence the name stay all day, even after eating this lipstick is still immaculate on the lips. Stila’s lipsticks are enriched with Vitamin E and Avocado Oil meaning this matte lipstick will not dry your lips out or make them look cracked.

Mac Matte Lipstick in Taupe – we all know Mac lipsticks are great, they are highly pigmented but we have to remember they are lipsticks so when applied to the lips they can be fairly tough because the colour, unlike the others featured here, is a solid block and not liquid. I feel that most of Mac lipsticks are drying however, this dark brown taupe is one of my favourite colours out of the Mac lipsticks. It goes with any kind of eye – strong or subtle and also would suit all different colourings.

LASplash Lip Couture Waterproof Matte Liquid Lipstick in Ghoulish – as said above this shade has a more of a reddish tone to it, so it’s not as natural as the OG Ghoulish. Nonetheless, the application and wear of the lipstick is faultless. One slightly bad thing about LASplash’s liquid lipsticks, they’re an absolute pain to get off – once they’re on, they’re on!

Mac Matte Lipstick in Velvet Teddy – so you know my thoughts on Mac lipsticks as mentioned before, this is probably the shade that every single girl in the world has in their makeup collection. It is definitely another lipstick I wear with any colour of clothing and any eye makeup. I prefer this as a day lipstick because it has a slight red tinge to it making it not to dark and dramatic as the shade Taupe.

NYX Lingerie in Ruffle Trim – I have been after this shade for AGES but I finally got my hands on it when our local Boots got a NYX counter. There are lots of beautiful colours in the Lingerie collection including nudes with more greyish tones which simply wash me out. Ruffle Trim, I would say has a browny-orange tone to it, I wear this lipstick to death some times. It is highly pigmented, isn’t drying unless you apply 10 coats (we’ve all been there on nights out), extremely weightless which can’t be said for a few of the options here. It is a lipstick that I get complimented a lot on because it’s an usual colour as well as a great matte liquid lipstick.

Stila Cosmetics Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Serenata – this lipstick is THE favourite out of the trio set that I got a few months back. As well as being incredibly hydrating, highly pigmented and just amazing this colour is to die for. It’s the colour I wear when I go out, it’s a real dark sultry brown/nude and it’s buildable without it looking cakey or flakey so you can get it more of a dark brown and it makes your look incredibly white which I have an obsession with! This is my far my favourite nude and lipstick in general, can’t sing it’s praises enough.

Limecrime Velvetine in Cashmere – Amid all the nasty comments I see on social media about Limecrime, I am a big fan of their Velvetines, one of my favourite reds is a Velvetine. But after seeing this colour EVERYWHERE on Instagram, I had to have it! I waited months for it to be available on a UK site, as I think (don’t hold me to this) but it was the first of many nude lipsticks that started to do the circle. Cashmere is a beautiful nude lipstick with greyish and purple-y (in some lights) tones in it. All Velvetines are incredibly durable, they do not transfer no matter if you’re sipping on a drink or eating a big-ass burger, it’s not moving. People have their thoughts about the applicator of the lipstick but I like it, it makes for an easy application and always has enough product on. For me, cashmere is a slight wacky nude due to the grey tones so when I feel brave I wear it.

Stila Cosmetics Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Perla – again, I don’t think I can tell you my love for her lipsticks any more! Perla is the more pinky-nude out of the trio of Stila Cosmetics lipstick I have, it is great for a subtle daytime lipstick, which for me I don’t wear pink lipstick at all so this is really subtle with tones of browns and nudes.
If you want to see me swatch all the Stila Cosmetics Liquid Lipsticks detailed above head over to the blog post linked which included swatches (with and without flash) and my overall love for them!

I would love to know what your favourite nude matte lipsticks are and if you recommend any!
