Long time no speak hey! Finally January is OVER – good riddance I say, and I’m sure all my course mates think so too!

It’s been a month full of horrible weather, horrible exams and ruddy hard work – 2014 you haven’t been very kind to me so far. BUT I have managed to survive it – law exams, reporting exams and ethics exams you got destroyed! Now I can relax, and that starts with enjoying a creme egg and listening to Annie Mac on Radio 1 whilst I write this (the party life huh?!)

Anyway (creme egg devoured), before exam period properly got his teeth into my life my beautiful mother came to visit me – she always makes everything better despite being over 100 miles away – back home in Newbury. But she came up, even though I had work (part-time at The Body Shop), we spent the evening together. She treated me to cocktails and dinner – yummy! I’m such a mummy’s girl it’s unreal, not only do we look like one another but she is my absolute world! The only thing that bugs me is when people say “Oh my god are you two sisters?” I’m there like NO! Do I look like I’m in my 40’s or are you saying she’s only 20? I’d prefer the second reasoning behind that question any day, think she would like it that way too!

After having a lovely meal at Turtle Bay which is a Jamaican restaurant – unreal food! Super tasty, spicy and their sweet potato fries are incredible! My mouth is literally watering just thinking about the food – enter food monster Autumn!

I hate saying ‘bye’ to people, but especially it being my mum as I’m so used to being around her – it’s one of the biggest reasons I find uni so hard; I’m a massive home girl – it’s not just about having meals cooked for me either (I know you’re thinking!) it’s a place of sanctuary – literally; fluffy carpets, a bath, having my car whenever I need it, having a massive sofa to slouch on all day!

Enough of me trying to describe you my home comforts, they’re probably pretty boring to you – I had something super exciting to look forward too, despite having to say bye to my mum; Mark was coming to visit me here in Nottingham (which was last weekend) – it was a chance to relax for a few days after having 2 exams in the space of 3 days and before I had to get my head back into texts books and be surrounded by flash cards (oh the relief).

My exact feelings to revision if I was a pug!

Counting down the days, Mark had finally arrived in Nottingham! Time to relax and chill out for a couple of days and to spend some quality time with my other favorite person (smiles all round for me!)

We had a lovely time together as usual (bit soppy I’m sorry) – we made the most of the time we had. Our adventure together was made up of Starbucks (standard procedure when we’re together), creme egg eating (I can’t get enough of them), dinner making (I was chef), cocktail drinking, having a ‘date night’ at The Living Room (lovely restaurant here in Nottingham) and watching countless episodes of 8 out of 10 cats does Countdown (we are cool, you got to admit it?)

Forever having an amazing time with him – many more adventures to come I am sure! Having special people from back home (like Mark and my Mum) making the effort to come and visit me is the best feeling and makes being so far away from home that little bit bearable.

So despite having some good moments in January like seeing Mark and my mum coming to visit me it’s been pretty shite – it all started with coming back up to uni (had to be dragged let’s be honest) but I am looking forward to February with new modules at uni (starting sports journalism – what do girls know about sports, we just stare at the men right? haha) and I promise to write on here more – hopefully my life gets a bit more interesting having seen the light of day after exams!

Until next time (hopefully sometime soon)

Peace out.
